While on vacation, I spent a lot of time trying to figure out what to do with myself without any dogs or cats to feed, walk, or rescue from one mischief making adventure or another.
Ultimately, I filled my time when not eating or doing dishes, walking the trails around the lodge and checking out the wild animals that were a part of the package. The thought occurred to me, more than once, "I wonder how Belle would respond if she were here?". Although feeding of the animals is strongly discouraged, it's apparent that this is roundly ignored given the chipmunks and red squirrels that would eat right out of our hands. The fact that the fox did rounds every day around the lodge also indicated that food was readily available. I confess, the last night I gave in to temptation and put out for the fox the leftover hot dogs and burgers that six young men and two women couldn't quite finish. I'm ashamed of myself.
Seeing the pictures again makes me think, "how would Belle have responded?". Would she have watched quietly, like she did when we saw the deer down at Pike Island? Or would she have given in to her retriever instincts and chased the ducks and loons like the golden we observed at Seagull Outfitters? I'll never know, I guess. What do you think?

Well, I have no idea how Belle would have reacted, but I can tell you my reaction: great slideshow! Thanks.
